North Carolina: Beaufort, Oriental and Cape Lookout

Around mile 200 of the ICW: Beaufort (say Bo-fort) and its Taylor Creek anchorage facing the wild horses, Cape Lookout and its bight, the finest anchorage on the coast, Oriental on the Neuse, New Bern at the head of the river, Wrightsville Beach and Southport to the south. The Outer Banks keep the swell out, not the thunderstorms or the mosquitoes.
