Approach and anchoring

Enter from the Neuse River and round up into the Trent. The anchorage holds in mud and is sheltered from most directions, with the town waterfront close to the north. Fresh water is available ashore. New Bern Grand Marina sits 0.2 NM NE and Galley Stores and Marina 0.6 NM NE.

Ashore

The downtown waterfront is a short dinghy ride away and easy to walk. Union Point Park, a six-acre green at the confluence of the two rivers, has a fishing pier and picnic ground. Shops, galleries and restaurants line the Main Street district, one of North Carolina's original Main Street communities designated in 1980.
