Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the southwest across the bay, no off-lying dangers of note. Sheltered from N, NE and E winds, open to the south and southwest where swell builds quickly. Sand bottom, good holding in settled weather.
Practical
No facilities at the beach itself. Morgat marina lies 3.8 nm west for berths, fuel and provisioning. Port de Tevenez is 6.4 nm to the northeast.
Ashore
The GR 34 coastal path runs along the cliffs above the cove, heading west toward the Morgat sea caves and east toward the Cap de la Chèvre. The beach sits inside the Armorique Regional Natural Park.
History
The Bay of Douarnenez is linked to the Breton legend of the lost city of Ys, documented in medieval texts and widely referenced in 19th century Breton folklore.
