Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south or east, clear of dangers once past the Pointe du Kador. Entrance between two jetties with red and green lights, accessible at all tides. Maximum draught 1.9 m at the visitor pontoon. VHF channel 9 for the harbour office. Shelter is good from west through north, but the bay is exposed to south and southeast winds.
Practical
Harbour office open year-round. Water and electricity on all pontoons, fuel berth with diesel and petrol. Showers, laundry and waste pump-out available. Bakery, small supermarket and chandlery within 300 m.
Ashore
Footpath GR 34 runs from the harbour along the cliffs to the Pointe de Dinan, about 4 km west. Grotte de l'Autel and the sea caves can be reached by tender along the coast. Village centre with restaurants and a seasonal market at 200 m from the pontoons.
History
Morgat grew from a sardine fishing village in the 19th century, then became a seaside resort developed by the Peugeot family from 1883 onwards with the Grand Hotel de la Mer. The harbour was rebuilt after the Second World War.
