Guide
Approach and anchoring
The entrance is guarded by Pulpit Rock, capped by an osprey nest; keep the rock to starboard and hold mid-channel. Anchor in the broad part outside the moored boats in 5 to 10 metres. The harbour is sheltered from every direction.
Practical
Fresh water is available locally. The bottom is mud with very good holding. Billings Diesel and Marine lies 8.9 nautical miles to the east and Journey's End Marina 9.8 nautical miles to the west for fuel and repair.
Ashore
The village of North Haven, with a general store and ferry landing, is roughly 3 km from the harbour by road. Sunset over the Camden Hills across the bay is the classic view from the anchorage.
Story
The osprey nest on Pulpit Rock has been occupied by successive birds for well over a century and is the landmark cruisers steer for on the approach.
