Approach and anchoring
Enter Rockland Harbor behind the 7/8-mile granite breakwater capped by the 1902 lighthouse. The marina lies on the west side, north of the public landing. VHF channels 9, 16 and 18 monitored.
Practical
Fuel berth with high-speed diesel. Shore power up to 100 amps, fresh water, Wi-Fi and pump-out. Five heads and showers with 24-hour access, laundry, mail holding. Full boatyard with 172,000 square feet of heated and unheated storage. Landings Marina lies 0.2 nm to the south-west as an alternative.
Ashore
Rockland town centre and Main Street shops start within 500 m of the marina. Farnsworth Art Museum, with its Wyeth collection, sits 600 m inland. The breakwater walk to the lighthouse runs 1.4 km along granite blocks from the north side of the harbour.
History
Rockland was the lime capital of the United States in the 1800s, with 80 limekilns on its waterfront. The breakwater protecting the harbour was completed in 1899 to shelter commercial shipping after the nor'easters of the 1850s caused heavy damage.
