Anchorage in Menemsha Bight on the north-west shore of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, about 2.5 miles east of Gay Head, with a mud bottom.

Approach and anchoring
The bight opens off the northern side of the island's western end and gives shelter in prevailing summer south-westerlies, in depths of 25 to 60 feet on sticky holding. It is open from north-east round to west and becomes untenable in any significant northerly. There is room to anchor either side of the entrance channel and further down off Lobsterville Beach, with no dangers if the shore is given a berth of 0.3 mile.
Practical
The town keeps a handful of guest moorings outside the breakwaters, north and east of the entrance; moorings to the south and west are private. No overnight anchoring is permitted inside the harbour itself. Woods Hole Marine and Woods Hole Yacht Club lie 11.3 nm NE across Vineyard Sound.
Ashore
Menemsha is a working fishing village with seafood shops and a few cafes around the harbour. Lobsterville Beach runs along the western side of the bight, and the Gay Head Cliffs lie about 2.5 miles west.
