Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry is through a dredged channel between two breakwaters, with a controlling depth of about 10 feet at average low water. The northern breakwater carries a 29 foot light that marks the channel. The mooring basin is dredged square and shoals at its edges, so keep to the middle.
Practical
The town of Gosnold lays around 40 to 50 visitor moorings inside the pond, taken first come first served and busy on summer weekends. The flat water makes rafting workable. Anchoring room is limited to a handful of boats along the northern edge of the basin, where holding is poor. Fresh water is available ashore.
Ashore
Cuttyhunk village sits a short walk from the town dock, with a handful of seasonal shops and a fish market. Footpaths cross the island to the sandy ocean beaches and to the hilltop above the pond, which gives a long view over Vineyard Sound.
