Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the central bay through the Aquatic Park entrance, just east of the historic Hyde Street Pier. Commercial vessels have priority. Operated by the Port of San Francisco.
Practical
Built for the seasonal herring, salmon and crab fleets that land catches at the Pier 45 processors. Recreational yachts may berth up to ten days per month when space allows. Shore power, water and pumpout on the pontoons.
Ashore
Hyde Street Pier and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park immediately to the west, with the 1886 square-rigger Balclutha, the 1890 ferry Eureka and the 1895 schooner C.A. Thayer. Cable car terminus at Hyde and Beach about 200 m.
History
The harbour was built to consolidate the working fishing fleet near the Pier 45 fish processors, taking pressure off the older inner harbour at Fisherman's Wharf.
