Guide
Approach and anchoring
The cove is closed on three sides and open to the west, with depths up to about 20 feet shoaling towards the head. There is no current and no fixed moorings, so anchor and swing freely. Shelter is good in northerly and westerly weather.
Practical
Treasure Isle Marina lies about 0.2 nm to the west for berths. The Marina at Pier 39 in San Francisco is about 2 nm to the west. The calm water is used for kayaking, paddleboarding and dinghy sailing.
History
Clipper Cove was formed when Treasure Island was built on the Yerba Buena shoals in 1936 and 1937 for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition. It is named after the Pan American flying boats, the China Clippers, that operated from the island.
