- Harbour
Small harbour at Horseshoe Cove, Fort Baker, on the north side of the Golden Gate just east of the bridge.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Horseshoe Cove directly under the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. Strong currents across the entrance on the ebb and flood, time the approach for slack water if possible.
Practical
Around 80 berths, including guest berths and maintenance facilities. Operated since 1997 by Travis Air Force Base on behalf of the Presidio Yacht Club. The Travis Marina Bar serves food and drinks on the waterfront.
History
Horseshoe Cove was acquired by the US Army in 1866 to fortify the north shore of the Golden Gate, and Fort Baker grew up around it. The Presidio Yacht Club was founded here on 11 May 1959 and still occupies the upper floor of the Travis Sailing Center.
