Approach and anchoring
Approach from Penobscot Bay with the island close aboard. The anchorage takes the swing from north-west round to south-east, but lies open to the east. Sand holding is good. Keep clear of lobster gear, which is dense through these waters.
Ashore
Burnt Island is a 74-acre town park belonging to North Haven, with a footpath that loops the shoreline and a dinghy float usable at any state of the tide. Billings Diesel and Marine on Deer Isle lies 5.8 miles east for fuel, repairs and chandlery.
