Guide
Approach and anchoring
Good holding in sand, with a few patches of rock and weed. In north-easterlies, wind comes down the cliffs in gusts. Swell stayed slight in NE winds in June 2024 and May 2026. A NE swell can still wrap round the point. The roll grows towards high water. After unsettled weather or strong Atlantic westerlies, swell can make the bay very uncomfortable for about 3 hours either side of HW. Saints Bay nearby is sometimes better protected.
Ashore
The beach is wide at low water and covers completely at high water. It is reachable for a few hours either side of low water. Landing is possible when there is no swell. A stairway of 286 steps climbs to the cliff path along the coast. The bay had a café in 2025.
