Guadeloupe's leeward coast: Deshaies, Pigeon and Bouillante
14 places · Guadeloupe
Deshaies is the first stop coming down from Antigua, forty miles north: a bay open to the west and clearance at the town hall's harbour office. The route then runs down Basse-Terre past Petite Anse, Pointe-Noire and Anse Caraïbe to the Pigeon islets, 1,100 metres off Malendure beach. They sit in the core of the national park: boats may only stop on the park's ecological moorings, most of them reserved for dive and tour operators. Bouillante and its hot springs, Anse à la Barque, then the 320-berth Rivière Sens marina south of Basse-Terre town, which also handles clearance.
