Côte de Jade: Saint-Brevin to Pornic

South of the Loire mouth, the Côte de Jade runs from Mindin, at the foot of the Saint-Nazaire bridge, to Pointe Saint-Gildas, then turns into the Bay of Bourgneuf. Noirmoutier shields the south of the bay from the prevailing winds, not the north. The Pointe Saint-Gildas harbour at Préfailles offers only moorings, for boats up to 10 m, and closes from mid-November to the end of February. Pornic is the main stop: 910 berths at La Noëveillard, open at any hour except low water springs. At big low tides the eastern end of the Kerouars bank has as little as 70 cm in places.
