Approach and anchoring

Access only around high water. The harbour dries completely at low water, with keelboats taking the ground on mud and sand. Entry is marked by a pair of jetty heads with red and green lights. Avoid the rocky shelves extending west of the entrance. The entrance is open to the north and is best not attempted when a fresh northerly is blowing. VHF 9 for the harbourmaster.

Practical

About 300 berths, most for local boats on drying moorings, the harbour shared by professional and amateur fishermen and yachtsmen. Water and electricity on the pontoons, fuel is not available on site. Small chandlery and a boatyard with crane, though the slipway is neither steep nor wide and queues build up in summer. A daytime shuttle runs out to the moorings. No shops at the harbour itself, the village bakery and stores lying a short walk inland.

Ashore

Coastal path GR 34 passes above the harbour and leads to Pointe Saint-Gildas at about 2 km, with Second World War bunkers and a marine observatory. Sandy beach of Port Giraud at 600 m. Market in La Plaine-sur-Mer on Thursday morning.
