Alderney and Guernsey from Cherbourg

8 places · Cotentin

Alderney lies 25 miles from Cherbourg, across the Alderney Race, where the stream exceeds 9 knots at springs. Braye Harbour has only buoys, tenable except in northerly winds. Guernsey follows 20 miles on: St Peter Port and its waiting pontoon, Beaucette to the north, and the anchorages of Herm and Sark to extend the trip. Leave Cherbourg at slack water in the Race, and clear customs on arrival.
