Public moorage float on Union Wharf, off Water Street in downtown Port Townsend.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach along the east side of Point Hudson into Port Townsend Bay. The wharf juts out at the foot of Taylor Street. Use the 50 metre float on the east side of the pier. Exposed to wind and chop from the north and east. Short-stay only.
Practical
Around 50 metres of side-tie for short visits, no shore power, no fresh water at the float. Restaurants and shops of Water Street are directly above the wharf. For overnight moorage with services, head to Boat Haven 1 nautical mile south-west or Point Hudson Marina at the north end of the waterfront.
Ashore
The Jefferson Museum of Art and History is two blocks up Water Street at 150 metres. Chetzemoka Park, with views over Admiralty Inlet, at 1.2 km on foot. The 1892 Jefferson County Courthouse on Jefferson Street is a registered National Historic Landmark.
History
Union Wharf was first built in 1870 by the merchants of Port Townsend to handle freight and passengers from the Mosquito Fleet of Puget Sound. The current structure dates from a 1990s reconstruction that kept the public float for transient boats.
