History
Fort Flagler was built from 1897 and activated in 1899 as part of the Triangle of Fire defending Puget Sound with Fort Worden and Fort Casey. It carried twenty-six artillery pieces, including two 12-inch disappearing guns and eight 12-inch mortars, named after Brigadier General Daniel Webster Flagler. The fort was decommissioned in 1953 and became a state park in 1955.
