Anchorage near the Figuiet cardinal mark in the bay of Morlaix, north Finistère, south of Île Callot and the Roscoff approaches.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach via the bay of Morlaix channel, identifying the Figuiet cardinal tower. Mud bottom with good holding. The bay is sheltered from most sectors by the surrounding islets and reefs, which also make the approach demanding at low water. Tidal range exceeds 8 metres at springs. Keep to marked channels and avoid the rocky plateaus to the west.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Port de plaisance de Roscoff-Bloscon lies 2.9 nautical miles north for all services including fuel. Moll is 5 nautical miles NW.
Ashore
The bay of Morlaix is part of the Parc naturel marin d'Iroise approaches and a recognised site for seabird and seal observation. Île Callot is reachable on foot from Carantec at low water by the submersible causeway.
