Approach and anchoring
Entry from the north leaving Île Louet and its lighthouse to the east, then the Château du Taureau to the west. Channel well marked by lateral buoys from the Chenal de Tréguier. Strong ebb stream from the Penzé and Morlaix rivers at half tide. Exposed to the north on NE winds.
Practical
Buoy mooring, contact the Morlaix harbourmaster by VHF 9 for availability. No water or fuel on the buoys. Port de plaisance de Roscoff-Bloscon 4.1 nm to the NW for full services. Port Diben 4.2 nm to the NE for a smaller drying harbour.
Ashore
Château du Taureau, a 16th century fort built to defend Morlaix from English raids, guided tours by shuttle from Carantec. Beach of the Grève Blanche on Carantec 2 km to the south. GR34 coastal path on both sides of the bay.
History
The Château du Taureau was ordered built by the people of Morlaix in 1542 after an English fleet sacked the town in 1522. Vauban rebuilt it in stone between 1689 and 1745.
