Anchorage off the Île Ricard, in the baie de Morlaix between Roscoff and the Pointe de Primel, in northern Brittany.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

The baie de Morlaix is dotted with rocks and drying heads, and the approach to the Ricard anchorage must be made on the charted passes, not by short cuts. Tidal streams run strongly through the bay, so plan arrival and departure with the tide. The bottom is sand, with good holding. Shelter is from NW through W to S, exposed to winds from N through E.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Port de plaisance de Roscoff-Bloscon, 2.6 nm to the NW, is a deepwater marina with all services. Port Diben, 3.6 nm to the E, is a smaller drying harbour at Plougasnou.
