Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Baie de Morlaix through the Chenal de l'Île de Batz. Entrance to the Penzé lies west of Carantec, between the Île Callot and the mainland. Strong cross tides across the bar, best entered on rising tide. No VHF watch on site. Refer to SHOM chart 7151.

Practical

155 moorings on mud, good holding. Water point available. No fuel or chandlery on the ria. Nearest full-service marina is Roscoff-Bloscon at 4 nm N. The ria dries in the upper reaches above Penzé village.

Ashore

Carantec peninsula on the east bank, bakery and shops in Carantec village at about 1 km from the mooring area. GR34 coastal path runs along both banks. Château du Taureau, a 16th century fort rebuilt by Vauban, sits at the mouth of the Bay of Morlaix and runs guided tours from Carantec in summer.
