Family-run marina on Mago Point, on the east bank of the lower Niantic River at Waterford, Connecticut.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter the Niantic River from Niantic Bay through the federal channel, 8 ft deep and 100 ft wide, passing under the Amtrak bascule railroad bridge at 17 ft closed clearance and the Route 156 highway bridge at 32 ft. The current runs hard through the inlet, so transit at slack water or against the tide. Mago Point lies on the east bank just inside the bridges.
Practical
Seasonal and transient berths for boats up to about 80 ft. There is a fuel berth with petrol and diesel, a pump-out, dockside water and shore power, a chandlery, and a clubhouse with showers, heads and laundry.
Ashore
Across the bridges, Niantic town centre has Main Street shops and restaurants within walking distance. The Niantic Bay Boardwalk runs 1.1 miles along the shore to Hole-in-the-Wall beach, and McCook Point Park has a sandy beach and a playground.
