Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Buzzards Bay toward the head of Quissett Harbour. The Knob is a rocky point that shields the inner harbour. Anchor on the sand and mud bottom, sheltered from west and north-west, but open to the bay from north-east through south-east and at south-west. Woods Hole Yacht Club and Woods Hole Marine lie 1.1 nm to the south-west.
Ashore
The Knob is the Cornelia L. Carey Sanctuary, conservation land managed by Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries and open from dawn to dusk. A short trail runs out along the boulder promontory, with views over Buzzards Bay and the Elizabeth Islands.
