Approach and anchoring

Up the Rance from the tidal barrage of La Rance, which opens several times a day on published schedules. The fairway is buoyed. Watch for the strong ebb current once the barrage releases. Shelter from NE, E and SE; exposed to westerlies. The small Port de Saint-Suliac lies 0.3 nm NE, Le Minihic-sur-Rance 1.2 nm W.

Practical

Two moorings on buoys, mud holding. No pontoon at the village itself. Water tap and bread from the village bakery 200 m from the slipway. Restaurants open from Easter to September.

Ashore

Saint-Suliac is listed as one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France. Stone granite houses from the 16th to 18th century, Romanesque church of Saint-Suliac, and the Mont Garrot viewpoint 1 km south over the estuary. GR34 coastal path runs through the village.

History

The village was a fishermen's parish whose crews sailed to the Newfoundland cod banks from the 16th to the 19th century. A basalt stele above the village marks the Oratoire de la Vierge, put up by returning Newfoundland fishermen.
