Guide

Approach and anchoring

Enter the Étang de Berre through the Canal de Caronte from Martigues, then steer north-east across the lagoon for about 9 nautical miles. The port lies under the railway viaduct of Saint-Chamas. Maximum draught 1.7 m, approach with care on the final half mile due to silting near the Touloubre outflow.

Practical

280 berths with water and electricity. Bakery and small grocer at the old village 400 m up the hill. Supermarket at La Fare-les-Oliviers 6 km by road. Train station on the PLM line with services to Marseille and Miramas.

Ashore

The Pont Flavien, a Roman single-arch bridge built around 12 BC over the Touloubre, stands 1 km north-east of the port and is listed as a Monument Historique. Old village with 17th-century Saint Léger church sits on a rock spur 500 m from the marina. Powder magazine of the 17th-century royal arsenal visible on the eastern cliffs.
