Anchorage off the Nautic Club de Miramas on the western shore of the Étang de Berre, south of Saint-Chamas.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Shallow mud bottom, draught typically 2 to 3 metres a short distance offshore. Sheltered from NE and E by the shoreline, exposed to the mistral from NW which raises a short chop across the open lagoon. Keep clear of moored club dinghies on approach.
Practical
No visitor facilities at the anchorage beyond the sailing club pontoons. Saint-Chamas harbour 0.5 nm N provides quayside berths and shops in the village. Port Beau Rivage is 2.1 nm E on the opposite shore. Miramas train station connects to Marseille and Avignon.
Ashore
Poudrerie de Saint-Chamas coastal path runs along the shoreline through the former gunpowder works now classified as a site. Saint-Chamas village with the Flavien Roman bridge, first century BC, at roughly 1.5 km. Étang de Berre ornithological reserve areas further north.
