Approach and anchoring

From the Canal de Caronte, head north across the Étang de Berre. The port is marked by a breakwater on the west shore, about 7 nautical miles from Martigues. Maximum draught 2 m. Harbour master on VHF 9. Mind the Istres military airbase flight path directly overhead.

Practical

210 berths with water and electricity on pontoons. Restaurants and a small shop at the Heures Claires district 300 m from the marina. Istres town centre is 2 km inland, full shops and weekly market on Sunday morning place Champollion.

Ashore

Shoreline promenade runs south from the port along the lagoon to the Ranquet beach, 1 km away. Étang de l'Olivier, freshwater lake north of Istres town, sits 3 km from the marina with a 6 km walking loop. Musée René Beaucaire in the old town covers local archaeology from the Neolithic to the Roman period.
