Approach and anchoring
Mud bottom, sheltered from west and north, open to the east. Tidal range reaches 6 metres on springs. Entry to the Saint-Martin-de-Ré locked basin opens about 2 hours either side of high water, VHF 9.
Practical
Anchoring is prohibited within the signposted area. Use the marina of Saint-Martin-de-Ré for berthing, or the harbours of Loix 1.2 nautical miles south-west and Goisil 1.3 nautical miles south-west on drying moorings.
Ashore
Saint-Martin-de-Ré fortifications by Vauban are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2008. Cycle network crosses the island, bike hire available at the port.
