Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the estuary via the Passe de Grave, following the buoyed channel between the Pointe de Grave and Royan. Strong tidal streams in the estuary, up to 3 knots. Entry accessible at any tide thanks to a dredged channel. Call VHF 9 on approach.

Practical

950 pontoon berths, max length 25 m. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol open year-round. Water, electricity at every berth, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi. Travelift 50 tonnes, boatyard on site. Shops and restaurants inside the marina village.

Ashore

Pointe de Grave lighthouse and the Cordouan viewpoint at 1.5 km. Beach of Saint-Nicolas at 1.2 km. Free ferry shuttle to Royan from Port Bloc at 600 m. Cycle path Velodyssee runs past the marina, linking the Medoc vineyards southwards.

History

Le Verdon housed a major military and commercial port in the 20th century, with the deep-water terminal built in the 1930s for transatlantic liners before being repurposed for container traffic.
