Approach and anchoring
Approach from the Gironde main channel then head east of the Royan fairway. Mooring protected from NW, N, W and SW winds but open to the E and SE, with strong tidal streams in the estuary. Watch the banks shifting near the Pointe de Vallieres.
Practical
Seasonal buoy field laid by the Saint-Georges town council. No fuel or water on the buoys. Shops, bakeries and a Spar supermarket within 400 m of the seafront. Royan harbour lies 1.6 NM NW for a full marina stop.
Ashore
Sandy conche beach directly inshore of the mooring, lifeguarded in summer. Coastal path to the Pointe de Suzac blockhouses, about 2 km south. Market hall on place de Verdun, 500 m from the beach.
