Approach and anchoring
Approach from the estuary's main channel, then head east of the Royan headland into the bay. Shallow sand bottom with gradual slope. Strong tidal streams on the estuary axis reach 3 knots or more at springs. Exposed to the prevailing W and SW winds driving up the estuary.
Practical
No facilities at the anchorage. Royan marina lies 2.2 NM NW with fuel, water, electricity and full services. Port Bloc at the south bank, 3.1 NM SW, is the refuge on the Pointe de Grave side and the landing point for the Royan-Le Verdon ferry.
