Approach and anchoring
Approach from the estuary fairway, watching the strong tidal streams that run up to 3 knots on the ebb between the Pointe de Grave and Royan. Shelter covers winds from SW through W to NW. Exposed to the N and to wind-against-tide chop. Port Bloc lies 0.4 NM NW and Port Médoc 0.4 NM S as immediate refuges.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no services on site. Water, fuel and berths are available at Port Médoc marina a short hop south. Le Verdon-sur-Mer village is within walking distance from either port for shops and basic provisions.
