Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the north across the Petite Passe or the Grande Passe between the island and the mainland. Entrance between two stone jetties marked by red and green lights. Maximum draught 3,5 m. VHF channel 9. Mooring inside the national park is regulated and buoy fields cover most of the northern coves.

Practical

770 berths managed by the municipal harbour office of Hyeres. Fuel berth with diesel. Water and electricity on pontoons. Showers and laundry. Waste reception. Booking strongly recommended from June to September. Bakery, grocery, pharmacy and several restaurants on the village square 150 m from the harbour office.

Ashore

Place d'Armes and its plane trees at 150 m, heart of the village built by the French state in the 1820s. Plage de la Courtade sandy beach at 1 km on foot. Fort Sainte-Agathe and its exhibition on the island history at 500 m. Bicycle rental at the port for the 54 km of marked tracks across the island.

History

The island was bought by the French state in 1971 to create the core of the Port-Cros national park. The former agricultural estate of the Fournier family, including the Plage de Notre-Dame vineyards, is now managed by the Conservatoire du Littoral.
