Approach and anchoring
Approach through the Petite Passe between Porquerolles and Giens peninsula. The anchorage sits on the north shore of the island, west of the village. Anchoring regulated by the Port-Cros National Park since 2019: buoy fields prioritised, anchors allowed on sand patches only, strict prohibition on posidonia above 10 m LOA. Porquerolles harbour 1.2 NM east, Port Auguier 2.3 NM NW on Giens peninsula.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Porquerolles village harbour has water, electricity and limited visitor berths booked via the town hall. Bakery, grocery, restaurants in the village square, 15 minutes walk from the anchorage.
Ashore
Plage d'Argent 1.5 km east, one of the three main beaches of the island. Fort Sainte-Agathe above the village, 17th century, viewpoint over the roadstead. Cycle network covers 50 km of tracks across the island, bike rentals in the village square.
History
Porquerolles was bought by the French state in 1971 to protect it from real estate speculation. The island has been part of the Port-Cros National Park since 2012. Fort Sainte-Agathe was built in 1531 under Francis I to defend the roadstead of Hyères.
