Approach and anchoring
Shallow tidal basin with drying banks, approach on a rising tide. Stay in the buoyed channels of the Courant du Nord, sandbanks shift after winter storms. Protection from N, NE and NW; fully exposed to S and SW sea breezes that build in the afternoon.
Practical
No berthing infrastructure on site. Club Nautique de Claouey is 1.3 NM NW and the oyster port of Andernos-les-Bains is 1.9 NM E for water and basic services. Anchor clear of the oyster farming concessions marked by wooden stakes.
Ashore
Cap Ferret oyster villages of Claouey and Grand Piquey are walkable from the Claouey pontoon, fish stalls and cabanes ostréicoles open in summer. Jetty of Andernos-les-Bains and the Saint-Éloi church with its 11th century apse sit at the head of the bay.
