Sand-bottom anchorage on the north shore of the Bay of Calvi, off the village of Lumio, Balagne coast of Corsica.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west of Calvi, keeping clear of the Pointe de Spano. Anchor on sand in 3 to 6 metres close inshore. Open to the W and NW, so best used in settled easterly weather. Calvi harbour lies 1.9 nm west, Port Eugene Ceccaldi at Sant-Ambroggio 2.4 nm to the NE.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services afloat. Small beach bar and restaurant on the sand in season. Calvi town and its citadel provide fuel, water and chandleries within a short sail.

Ashore

Beach of Sant-Ambroggio stretches east towards the Marine de Sant-Ambroggio marina. The hilltop village of Lumio sits 1.5 km inland, with the Romanesque church of San Petru. Sentier du littoral links the coast eastwards along the Bay of Calvi.
