Approach and anchoring
Halt on the right bank of the Meuse around PK 96, reached through the locks of the Canal de la Meuse. Quiet current outside flood periods. VNF lock operation from April to October. No tidal constraint. Moor stern-to or alongside the concrete quay.
Practical
Five places along a low quay with mooring bollards. Freshwater tap on the quay. No diesel on site. Town centre 300 m from the quay with bakery, supermarket and pharmacy. Nearest fuel pontoon at Charleville-Mezieres, 5 km upstream.
Ashore
Voie verte Trans-Ardennes cycle path runs along the quay, 83 km from Givet to Charleville along the river. Steelmaking heritage trail passes the former Thome-Genot foundry, 400 m from the halt. Chapelle Saint-Roch on the right bank, 600 m.
History
Nouzonville grew around ironworks and nail making from the seventeenth century, then hardware and bicycle parts from the nineteenth. The town was heavily bombed in May 1940 during the German breakthrough at Sedan.
