Approach and anchoring
Halt on the right bank of the Meuse, reached on the VNF navigable waterway from Givet to Charleville. Locks operated by VNF from April to October on demand via VHF or telephone. Gentle current outside flood periods.
Practical
Six places along a low quay. Freshwater tap and one shared electricity pillar. No diesel on site. Small village with a bakery 250 m from the quay. Nearest full ravitaillement at Nouzonville, 3 km upstream.
Ashore
Voie verte Trans-Ardennes cycle path passes the quay. Route des Légendes des Ardennes runs through the valley with viewpoints over the Meuse meanders. Footpath up to the Roche aux Sept Villages viewpoint, 2 km, shared with Bogny-sur-Meuse.
History
Joigny-sur-Meuse was a small agricultural and slate-working commune of the Ardennes valley. Like the neighbouring villages, it became part of the Ardennes industrial corridor in the nineteenth century through the nail and foundry trades.
