Approach and anchoring
On the canalised Meuse at PK 79, between écluse 42 des Dames de Meuse downstream and écluse 43 de Laifour upstream. Narrow meander with visibility limited to under 400 metres, keep to the right-hand bank on approach. Headroom 3,70 metres at the rail bridge of Laifour.
Practical
Four spaces at a simple pontoon with water, no shore power. No shops in the hamlet of Laifour itself, small grocer and restaurant at Revin 2,6 NM upstream or Monthermé 2,4 NM downstream. Laifour railway station on the Charleville to Givet line at 200 m from the pontoon.
Ashore
Sentier des Dames de Meuse from the pontoon, marked GR 12 climb of 2,5 km to the ridge at 393 m altitude, one of the best-known panoramas of the Ardennes. Roc de la Tour granite outcrop reached by a path of 4 km. The rail line and the Meuse run side by side through the Laifour gorge, rebuilt after the floods of 1995.
