Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reach on the canalised Meuse under VNF management, current weak outside dam releases. Mud bottom. Pick up a club buoy only with prior agreement from the CVVFCM, passing boats must not moor without permission.
Practical
No services for visitors. Shelter from winds from NW through N to NE thanks to the steep valley slopes. Revin halte fluviale is 4,3 NM NE with water and electricity, Halte fluviale de Laifour at 4,5 NM NE.
Ashore
The EuroVelo 19 Meuse cycle route runs along the left bank and links Revin to Monthermé in 12 km. The Roches de Laifour and the Dames de Meuse, quartzite crests rising 270 m above the river, are reached on foot from the Laifour halte by the GR 12 in about 1 hour.
History
The Meuse was canalised in the Ardennes between 1874 and 1881 with 9 locks added between Revin and Charleville-Mézières to allow barge traffic up to 300 tonnes.
