Guide

Approach and anchoring

Anchorage on sand with protection from S, SW and W, open to the northerly mistral funnelling down the étang. Depths drop gradually; keep at least 2 m under the keel near the shoreline. No lights on the cove itself.

Practical

No services. Istres Les Heures Claires marina lies 1.4 NM N for fuel, water and repairs; Fos-sur-Mer 3.9 NM SW is the nearest fully commercial refuge.

Ashore

Shore path along the étang leads to the old town of Istres and its Saint-Sulpice church in about 30 minutes on foot. The Étang de Berre is a brackish inland sea, subject to strict water-sports zoning.
