Approach at half-tide or higher. The bay dries over wide mudflats at low water. Follow the marked channel from the Pertuis Breton. Mud bottom, tenacious holding. Protected from NW through SE, open to SW. Strong tidal streams on springs.

Moorings managed from Port du Pavé, 0.1 nm to the south, which dries at low water. Water and a slip at the port. No fuel on site. Nearest chandlery and diesel at La Rochelle, 12 nm south-west.

Village of Charron 1 km inland, known for rope-grown mussels from the Baie de l'Aiguillon AOP. Réserve naturelle nationale de la Baie de l'Aiguillon 2 km north, a major stopover for migratory birds. Saint-Étienne du Pavé chapel on the dyke.
