Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west-south-west, leaving the Tas de Pois rocks off the Pointe de Pen-Hir to starboard. The bay opens 2.1 nautical miles south-east of Camaret. Anchor on sand in 4 to 8 metres. Exposure to winds from the south-west and west brings in Atlantic swell.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no services. Camaret-sur-Mer Bassin du Nautique, 2.1 NM north-west, has water, electricity, fuel and showers. Port Vauban in Camaret, 2.3 NM north-west, adds visitor berths in the wet basin.

Ashore

Pointe de Pen-Hir and the Tas de Pois, classified Grand Site de France, 3 km north on the GR 34. Beach at Kerloc'h on the eastern shore of the bay. Village of Crozon with shops 5 km inland.

History

The Alignements de Lagatjar, a Neolithic site of standing stones, lies 2 km inland from the bay near Camaret. The Pointe de Pen-Hir bears a monument to Free French Breton sailors.
