Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Atlantic by the buoyed channel into Westport Harbour, then up the East Branch past Westport Point. The river entrance carries a shifting sand bar and breaks in a southerly swell, so a near high water arrival is advised for deeper-draught yachts. Strong tidal streams run through the moorings.
Practical
More than 100 berths plus moorings, with shore power and fresh water on the pontoons. There is a fuel berth with petrol and diesel, a pump-out, and a boatyard for repairs and haul-out. Westport Point village has provisions and seafood within walking distance.
