Full-service marina inside Sakonnet Harbour, on the north side of Sakonnet Point at the mouth of the Sakonnet River, Little Compton, Rhode Island.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
From seaward pick up the SR safe water buoy about four miles southwest of the harbour, then make for red bell 2A and the flashing red light on the west breakwater. An 800-foot stone breakwater shelters the harbour from all directions but the north. A fish trap runs off the breakwater, so keep to its north side on entry. About 7 feet is reported at the entrance.
Practical
Over 100 berths for yachts to 60 feet, with shore power, fresh water and transient dockage. The fuel berth supplies petrol and diesel and runs daily in season. A full boatyard handles haul-out, bottom painting and engineering. There are no heads or showers on site; access can be bought to the neighbouring private club.
Story
Lying just east of Newport, the marina is used by many crews as a layover towards the Elizabeth Islands, Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod and Nantucket.
