Guide
Approach and anchoring
The river entrance is narrow and crooked, marked by lighted buoys, with rocks and ledges south of the mouth. Stay westward of the dangers off Gooseberry Neck and eastward of those off the river entrance. Shoaling has been a recurring problem in the channel, so favour the marked water and take the flood. Sheltered from NW, N, W and SW.
Practical
Westport Yacht Club and Leach and Son Marina both lie 2.6 miles to the north-west at Westport Point, where moorings, fuel and provisions are available.
