Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach through the Grand Trait channel between the Plateau du Four lighthouse to the west and the Pointe du Croisic to the east. Enter the ria following the buoyed channel, currents can reach 3 to 4 knots on the ebb. Maximum draught 2 m on visitor pontoons. VHF 9.

Practical

Three inner basins. Visitor pontoons in the Bassin Numéro 2. Water, electricity, WC and showers. No fuel berth on site, nearest diesel at La Turballe. Supermarket, bakery and fish market on the quay within 200 m.

Ashore

Océarium du Croisic, a private aquarium with 4 million litres of tanks, at 400 m on the western quay. Sentier des douaniers GR 34 from the port along the granite coast of the Côte Sauvage. Guérande walled salt town and its salt marshes at 9 km to the north-east.

History

Le Croisic was a cod-fishing and salt-trading port from the 15th century. The Hôtel d'Aiguillon on the Quai Lénigo dates from the 17th century, and the Mont-Lénigo mounds along the harbour are ballast heaps from returning Newfoundland cod schooners.
