Approach and anchoring
Enter the Le Croisic channel on the rising tide between the Jument and Basse Hergo beacons. The criee quays lie to port on the north bank, just before the old town basins. Strong tidal streams in the pass at springs. Contact the harbour office on VHF 9 before berthing, the quays are reserved for the fishing fleet.
Practical
Commercial fishing quay, not a leisure berth. Yachts head for the Le Croisic marina basins 200 metres further in. Chandlery and fuel available in the town. All shops within 300 metres.
Ashore
Fresh fish auction open to the public most weekday mornings at Ocearium du Croisic 400 metres west, a public aquarium focused on Atlantic species. Old town with 17th century grain market and Saint-Nicolas church 250 metres east. Guerande salt marshes 6 km north by road.
History
Le Croisic has been a fishing port since the Middle Ages and was a major sardine and tuna harbour in the 19th century. The current criee building dates from the 1980s and replaced the older quayside auctions held directly off the boats.
